BASC Elite

2010 – 2011 Traveling Soccer Program

U9 Thru U14

The Burlington Area Soccer Club (BASC) Elite traveling soccer teams are the premier soccer teams in Southeast Iowa.  The BASC Elite Program offers competitive soccer for boys and girls from the age of 7 thru 18.  The BASC Elite Program strives to provide an atmosphere where players can develop advanced soccer skills while competing against other regional soccer clubs.

The 2010-2011 Elite Program runs from August 2010 through June 2011.

The Elite teams will participate in an 8 game fall season, an 8 game spring season as well as 6 regional tournaments.  In 2010-2011 the U11 thru U14 Elite teams will play in the IPSL (Iowa Premier Soccer League) for the fall and spring seasons.   The U9 and U10 teams will participate in the ICCR (Iowa City – Cedar Rapids) league or a potentially new Iowa City-Muscatine-Burlington League similar to the the IPSL.  Participation in the BASC/YMCA recreational league is not required.

The IPSL and ICCR regional soccer leagues schedule premier teams in the Eastern Iowa communities against other premier teams in order to provide a higher level of competition than can be found in the local communities.

Base Fee:  9 Monthly payments of $40, a total of $360.00

Uniform Fee:  $50

Fund-raising:  Two or three fund-raising opportunities will be provided throughout the year.  All money raised by the individual will reduce the player’s base fee.  No group fund-raising is required; however attendance at the car wash fundraiser in late summer is required.

Tournaments:  6 tournaments are part of the base program.

Fall Tournaments:  Midwest Soccerfest – Cedar Rapids, IA (September), Muscatine Fall Classic – Muscatine, IA  (September),  Bettendorf Tournament – Bettendorf, IA (October)

Spring/Summer Tournaments:  CRSA Chillout –  Rapids, IA (April), Burlington Summer Classic – Burlington, IA (June), Muscatine Summer Classic – Muscatine, IA (June)

Teams may participate in other tournaments throughout the year; participation in the additional tournaments is optional.  If a player decides to participate in an additional tournament the tournament fees will be added to their base fee.

League Games:  8 game fall season.  8 game spring season.

IPSL (U11 – U14):  8 game season in the fall and spring.  Games will be played mostly on Sundays.  The fall season will run from September through early November.  Practices will start in late July.  The spring season will run from April through June.  Practices will start in late March.

Double headers will be scheduled to limit the amount of traveling.  We anticipate the games will be held in Burlington, Muscatine, Iowa City, and Davenport.  We anticipate 3 days of traveling per season for the IPSL leagues.

ICCR (U9 – U10):  8 game season in the fall and spring.  Games will be played on Saturdays at the Prairie Soccer Complex at Prairie High School in southern Cedar Rapids.  Double headers will be scheduled to limit the amount of travel.   We anticipate 4 days of traveling per season.  The fall season will run from September through early November.  Practices will start in late July.  The spring season will run from April through June.  Practices will start in late March.

Potential New League (U9 – U10) League:  A new league similar to the IPSL is in the works and may be up in running in the fall.  The new league would join the communities of Burlington, Muscatine, and Iowa City in a regional soccer league geared to develop the U9 and U10 age groups.  The U9 and U10 teams will either participate in this league or the ICCR.  The BASC will make this determination at a later date.

Practices:  2 per week in the spring and fall seasons.  All outdoor practices will be held at the Burlington Rec-Plex.  8 indoor practices will be held at local gyms during the months of January and February, one practice a week for 8 weeks.

Tryouts:  The Elite Program is a select program, thus placement on a team in not guaranteed.  Tryouts will be held the second week in July.  More than one team in an age group will be formed if sign ups warrant it.  If two teams are formed in an age group the player will be split into an “A” team and a “B” team.
